Krispy Kreme

I’m not a regular eater of Krispy Kreme because we don’t have store here in our place but their donut is not new to me. I have tasted Krispy Kreme during the time I was in Manila but that was long time ago. I still remember the first time I tasted their donut I liked it because it is tasty and flavorful.

Anyway, the other day my niece brought Krispy Kreme in the house it was her father’s present who is working in Manila. At last after so long, I tasted Krispy Kreme once again. I have been reading/seeing other bloggers featuring Krispy Kreme and now it’s my time, hahah! Krispy Kreme is really tasty but the price is quite expensive compared to other donut products. Though their donuts are sometimes too sweet but I still love the texture and softness of Krispy Kreme donut. If you are not into sweets just eat with moderation, wink!

According to Wikipedia, Krispy Kreme is the name of an international chain of doughnut stores that was founded by Vernon Rudolph in 1937 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The parent company of Krispy Kreme is Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Inc. (NYSEKKD) and is based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, United States. Krispy Kreme’s first buliding was where Old Salem is now in Winston Salem, NC.

World’s shortest living man – Junrey Balawing

Junrey Balawing 18th birthday (photo credit to the owner)

This morning I watched news in Umagang Kay Ganda, they featured world’s shortest living man Junrey Balawing. According to reports, he has been named as the “World’s Shortest Living Man” by Guinness World Records. And will fly to Italy to officially acknowledge his for being shortest living man in earth.

Junrey Balawing will take place the previous World’s Shortest Living Man, which is Khagendra Thapa Magar from Nepal. Khagendra is 26 inches tall while Junrey our fellowman stands 23.5 inches tall.

During the interview this morning, Junrey parents said he stopped growing in his first year of life. He has trouble in walking and not capable to go to school. If you could see him he looks like a baby but he was 18 years old already.

Anyway, since I first saw and heard about Junrey Balawing on tv I searched over the net to know him better. And according to wikipedia  Junrey Balawing born June 12, 1993 in SindanganZamboanga del NortePhilippines). He is the world’s shortest living man according to the Guinness Book of World Records, measuring at 0.5993 m (1 ft11 23 in). The declaration came during Balawing’s 18th birthday celebration. Guinness World Records official said Balawing broke the record of Khagendra Thapa Magar of Nepal, who is 0.67 m (2 ft 2 13 in) tall.

Balawing, the son of a poor blacksmith, lives in Sindangan, about 865 kilometers south of the capital Manila. Although he is documented as the shortest living man, he missed the title of shortest man in history, which is held by Gul Mohammed of India, who was 0.571 m (1 ft10 25 in) tall and died on October 1, 1997.

Easy Kitchen Storage Ideas

Guest post written by friend Vicky Dean

Kitchens come in all shapes and sizes. Some of us have room in abundance whilst others barely have room to turn around. With so many pots, pans and modern kitchen accessories you can soon find that your cupboards are full and your workspaces are overcrowded. With a little bit of rearrangement and some nifty storage solutions you can soon put your kitchen in order and really maximize the space that you do have.

Tea Towel Storage

Tea towels are only small but because you have to leave them out to dry they really can clutter up your kitchen. Clean tea towels are usually kept in a kitchen draw and then hung precariously on draw knobs or handles to dry out. More often than not they find their way on to the floor and end up dirtier and messier than ever. This is where over the door tea towel rails come in handy. There is no screwing or drilling involved as you simply hook the rail over one of your cupboard doors. They are very useful because you do not need to find a dedicated space for the rail to go and you are making the most of something that already exists in your kitchen.

Free up some cupboard space

If your cupboard space is limited you need to try and find new ways of storing your jars and other food products. Half of the time your space is being wasted by goods with enormous amounts of exterior packaging that can easily be removed and stored without it. If you are still struggling then maybe you could try a door rack. They can be easily fixed on to the inside of any cupboard door and are wide enough to store bottles in but not so wide that they end up taking up all of the interior of the cupboard! They are great for things like condiments, vinegars, spices and even cleaning products.

Hang it up

One of the most spacious yet overlooked places in your kitchen is that which is overhead. With a little bit of creativity and a ladder you can make the most of this space by fixing up a hanging rail. Hanging rails are best for hanging saucepans and other large utensils from.  You need to make sure that the rail is hung at the right height so you can reach your pots and pans but it isn’t so low that you keep crashing into it!

How to Have a Happy Relationship

Guest post written by friend Sophie

Whether you and your partner have been together for a few months or many years, there may be times when you feel like the relationship you share is a little strained. Whilst this is perfectly normal from time to time, there are things you can do to minimise the chance of stressful situations escalating into full blown rows. Read on as a few of the tried and tested ways of achieving a harmonious relationship are discussed in further detail.

Set a Date Night

When full time jobs, children and other factors leave you pushed for time, it can seem like your relationship gets put on the backburner; combat this by agreeing a date night at least once a fortnight and strive to keep to it. A date night can be anything from going out for dinner to simply opening a bottle of wine at home and making sure the mobiles are switched off to enjoy each other’s company without interruption.

Read your Horoscopes

Those that believe in astrology can take great comfort in reading their horoscopes as it makes them more aware of what could be around the corner. Horoscopes can give readers hope and inspiration especially when it comes to the issues surrounding relationships, so why not have a look at yours and see if you can take anything from it?

This word is something that crops up a lot when discussing relationships and with good reason. Compromise is essential within a relationship and it must be something you are prepared for before getting serious with your partner. Compromise can be necessary in all sorts of situations from moving in together to the many differences that crop up throughout parenting so if you cannot do this in the early stages of your relationship, you may find it a much bigger struggle further down the line.

As a couple, people can often find they end up living out of each other’s pockets; something which can leave you feeling like your independence is lost. Try to keep money matters split fairly down the middle and find time each week to do something you enjoy separate from them such as dropping in to see an old friend or attending an exercise class.

The key to a happy relationship can depend on many things, but making sure you find time for each other whilst at the same time retaining your independence is a solid foundation for a lasting relationship.

Sophie enjoys reading horoscopes as an indication for what could be around the corner for her and her partner and believes that independence and compromise are key factors in ensuring a happy relationship.

Sarah G Live

If you are a fan of Popstar princess Sarah Geronimo for sure you know already about her upcoming show on ABS-CBN. The show is called Sarah G Live – it is her first solo musical variety show. Sarah said she is both excited and nervous. Maybe there is pressure on her part because Sharon Cuneta, Vilma Santos and I think Nor Aunor had successful variety show before and last for many years. Now, Sarah will take the place. Luiz Manzano is her weekly co-host and I think Gab Valenciano will join them also as weekly performer.

Sarah G Live! is set to premiere on February 26 and will take the time slot of “Gandang Gabi Vice”. I’m looking forward to watch this new show of Sarah. She is talented and versatile singer-actress.  I’ve seen her hosting ability in ASAP every Sunday  so for sure she will be good in her very first variety show.

White Wedding Bands

For as long as I can remember yellow gold has been the craze for wedding bands.  It was classic and timeless.  Everybody I knew had a yellow gold wedding band.  Then in the 80’s there was a push towards silver rings and the really wealthy would go with platinum.  Now there has been a huge shift.  In fact a few years ago white cobalt chrome rings hit the markets.  These rings look just as good as platinum but usually cost a tenth of the price of a platinum ring.  This is making a different look available to many people.  The options seem endless to the types of wedding bands you can go with.  If you like the white look you have nearly a dozen options

Another popular white metal are white gold wedding bands.  White gold seems like a magical type of metal.  It isn’t really magic but jeweler manufacturers take a piece of gold and they add nickel or some other metal alloys to it to make it white.  Overtime the white will fade and your ring will have a yellow tent to it.  It only makes sense that gold will look yellow.  So there are many new options for white metals.  You should do your research and choose wisely.

Whitney Houston found dead at 48

While browsing my Facebook account I saw a post regarding Whitney Houston’s death. At first I don’t believe it, so I went to Google search to find out more about this issue. And yes, it was confirmed Whitney Houston found dead in her room at the age of 48. She was passed away on Saturday (February 11). According to the news, after her drugs battle, Whitney Houston was found dead in a hotel room. Well, drug related is just a speculation but cause of her dead is unclear. Emergency personnel went straight to her room in Beverly Hills hotel to revive her. But she was unable to save after administered CPR for 20 minutes.

Whitney Houston an award-winning singer and actress, among her popular songs are:

  • I will Always Love You
  • Greatest Love of All
  • How Will I Know
  • All The Man That I Need
  • I Wanna Dance With Somebody
  • Where Do Broken Hearts Go?
  • Didn’t We Almost Have It All?
  • Saving All My Love For You
  • I’m Your Baby Tonight
  • So Emotional
  • When you Believe (This is my favorite song of Whitney Houston. An inspirational song – There can be miracles, when you believe).

I was still shocked; the world has lost another great singer, one of the best voices actually. RIP Whitney Houston; your memory and songs will be forever remembered.

6.9 Magnitude Earthquake, Negros Oriental (affected people asking for help)

Right now I am watching news about earthquake that hits in Negros Oriental last February 6. A 6.9 magnitude earthquake hits some part of Visayas and Mindanao region. The center of earthquake was Tayasan in Negros Oriental. As of this time there are number of dead bodies found and less than 100 are still missing. This earthquake destroyed buildings, cracked roads found, wrecked bridge, cause landslide that resulted to burying of houses in Negros Oriental.

In the news many of our kababayan (fellowmen) from Tayasan, La Libertad and Ayungon Negros, Oriental are asking for help from the government. Sad to say, it’s hard to reach their places especially those who are living in secreted place. Residents are showing placard already saying they are starving and thirsty. Banana is the only food they can eat daily.

Watching them made me think that we are lucky here in our place. There are many storms and now earthquake happened in our country but our place is not affected. We are really blessed but I’m not so blissful because I know other fellowmen are suffering from these disasters in our country. I heard this year we can experience number of storms again. I just hope and pray that it will not cause much to our country.

Orange Tuesday – Orange Juice

It’s been a long time since the last time I joined Orange Tuesday. So I’m joining today before the 34th Edition will close. I bought this juice maker couple of months ago. When Kyla first saw this juice maker she said that she will make her own juice. She said she knows how to make juice because she learned it in one of the episodes in Oso of Disney Junior.

So here is Kyla making her own juice.

Now she is drinking orange juice, her fruit of labor.

I’m linking this post in Orange Tuesday, click the badge for more orange entries.
