Last month I opened an account in BPI Globe BanKO, the first mobile-based, microfinance-focused savings bank in the Philippines. It was established July 2009 by BPI, Globe and Ayala Corporation.
I learned about this bank because of Bosing (Vic Sotto). This bank is one of the sponsors in Juan For All, All For One segment in Eat Bulaga.
I opened an account because there is no maintaining balance in BPI Globe BanKO unlike other bank you need to maintain atleast 5,000 pesos. This is already huge money and sometimes I need urgent money. So maintaining it in a bank is not advisable for me. Aside from that if your balance is below maintaining balance you will be charged reason why I opened an account in BPI Globe BanKO because no worry about maintaining balance.
You can open an account for only 100 pesos. This is for ATM card and initial deposit. After, you can withdraw and deposit as low as 50 pesos. BanKO offers life insurance up to 5 times of you savings and earn 1% interest per annum if you have an average daily balance of 2000 pesos. Your globe cellphone is your account number so check your balance anytime. Can also send, receive money and pay bills using your cellphone.
Well, insurance is a choice. If you don’t like there is other option which is earn 3% interest per annum of your savings.
ATM card can be used in any ATM nationwide. The only thing I disagree with BanKO is the charge for every withdrawal. It’s normal to pay service charge for ATM withdrawal but over the counter is not. There is service charge even withdrawing over the counter. The charge depends on the amount you will withdraw.
How to open an account in BPI Globe BanKO?
Just go to the nearest BanKO Partner Outlet with your Globe or TM SIM card. Bring valid ID like SSS, Pag-Ibig, company ID, school ID, or Brgy. Certification.
100 pesos (50 for initial deposit and 50 for ATM card)
Fill-out application form and submit requirements.
Register to BanKO using cellphone.
