This morning I watched news in Umagang Kay Ganda, they featured world’s shortest living man Junrey Balawing. According to reports, he has been named as the “World’s Shortest Living Man” by Guinness World Records. And will fly to Italy to officially acknowledge his for being shortest living man in earth. 

Junrey Balawing will take place the previous World’s Shortest Living Man, which is Khagendra Thapa Magar from Nepal. Khagendra is 26 inches tall while Junrey our fellowman stands 23.5 inches tall.

During the interview this morning, Junrey parents said he stopped growing in his first year of life. He has trouble in walking and not capable to go to school. If you could see him he looks like a baby but he was 18 years old already.

Anyway, since I first saw and heard about Junrey Balawing on tv I searched over the net to know him better. And according to wikipedia  Junrey Balawing born June 12, 1993 in Sindangan, Zamboanga del Norte, Philippines). He is the world’s shortest living man according to the Guinness Book of World Records, measuring at 0.5993 m (1 ft11 ²⁄₃ in). The declaration came during Balawing’s 18th birthday celebration. Guinness World Records official said Balawing broke the record of Khagendra Thapa Magar of Nepal, who is 0.67 m (2 ft 2 ¹⁄₃ in) tall.

Balawing, the son of a poor blacksmith, lives in Sindangan, about 865 kilometers south of the capital Manila. Although he is documented as the shortest living man, he missed the title of shortest man in history, which is held by Gul Mohammed of India, who was 0.571 m (1 ft10 ²⁄₅ in) tall and died on October 1, 1997.
